FCA welcomes $15 million for 60 new rural financial counsellors

Financial Counselling Australia welcomes the federal government’s announcement of $15 million to provide 60 new rural financial counselling jobs.

The $15 million is part of a $100 million grant program to rebuild the nation’s farms, which have been devastated by the months’ long bushfires.

The new rural financial counsellors will provide a much-needed boost to the 12 Rural Financial Counselling Services already working across the country.

Rural financial counsellors have long played an integral part in the health of rural and regional communities. They help farmers and farm-related businesses understand their financial position, the viability of their business and negotiate with creditors. Financial counsellors can also develop and implement plans to improve the financial situation of these rural/regional businesses.

FCA thanks the government for this timely boost in support.
