FCA Board announces resignation of CEO, Dr Domenique Meyrick

The Board of Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) has accepted the resignation of its CEO, Dr Domenique Meyrick, effective from 18th September 2026. 

Dr Meyrick has worked at FCA since 2017 and became its CEO in February 2024. After careful consideration, she has decided that now is the right time for a new direction. 

Throughout her time at the helm, Dr Meyrick has driven significant advances for the financial counselling sector – strengthening the evidence base through better data, developing a national workforce strategy, securing increased funding for the sector including five-year grants, establishing the Insights Tool to collect real-time feedback from the frontline, amplifying the voice of financial counsellors nationally, and driving advocacy on issues including ‘scambling’ (online gambling scams), tax debt recovery and financial hardship responses. 

“We thank Domenique for her unwavering dedication to the sector,” said Chair of FCA Board, Tim Barnett. 

“She has led the organisation with professionalism and integrity and her achievements, working with her team, have had a significant impact on the sector,” Mr Barnett said. 

Dr Meyrick said it had been a privilege to lead FCA. “I’m enormously proud of what the FCA team and the financial counselling sector have achieved together, and I am particularly proud of building the voices of First Nations people in the sector.” 

“Financial counsellors and capability workers do incredibly important work, helping people who are in severe financial hardship. It has been an honour to be a part of a sector that helps individuals and small business owners get back on track financially and advocates for fairer treatment by creditors.”  

The FCA Board is currently finalising interim leadership arrangements and will communicate a process for recruiting a permanent CEO in due course. Dr Meyrick will remain in the role until 18th September and will focus on ensuring a smooth transition.
